The Institute of Land Reclamation has published a monograph by P. K. Chernik and E. N. Shkutov, "Mechanics of Biogenic Soils", dedicated to the study, calculation, and practical use of biogenic soils in the construction of engineering structures.
This book presents for the first time methods for calculating the stress state of weak foundations, permissible loads, and loading regimes, taking into account the increase in soil strength during compaction.
This publication summarizes the results of many years of research conducted under the direction of P.K. Chernik since 1971 and includes eight sections covering the physical, mechanical, and rheological properties of biogenic soils, methods for their study, and practical approaches to design and construction on weak foundations. This monograph will be of interest to specialists in design, construction, and scientific organizations, as well as teachers and students of construction.
