Today, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current Issues of Land Reclamation, Reclamation, and Protection" (Skoropanov Readings) opened in the conference hall of the Institute of Land Reclamation. It brought together scientists, practitioners, and graduate students from Belarus and Russia.

Opening the conference's plenary session, Institute Director A.S. Anzhenkov emphasized that enhancing scientific and technical development in the land reclamation sector is one of the most pressing applied challenges. He also recounted the history of the Institute of Land Reclamation, which celebrates its 115th anniversary this year.

Yu.A. Mazhaisky, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, representing the A.N. Kostyakov All-Russian Research Institute of Hydrometeorology and Meteorology (Ryazan), analyzed the influence of various factors on the growth and development of the grass cover and substantiated specific recommendations for its formation. Of particular interest was the report by A.A. Zhuravsky, Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of the State Enterprise "Vitebskmeliovodkhoz", on the problematic issues of waterlogging of heavy soils at land reclamation sites in the Vitebsk Region. The presentation by V.M. Makoed, Head of the Sector of Advanced Development and Information Technologies of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Institute of Land Reclamation", was dedicated to innovative developments in land reclamation in Belarus. N.K. Vakhonin, Candidate of Technical Sciences (International University "MITSO"), presented a report "Goal-oriented model of a decision-making support system in large and complex objects using land reclamation as an example." V.N. Filippov shared his personal experience of communicating with S.G. Skoropanov, and A.P. Likhatsevich demonstrated the relevance of the academician's scientific ideas for modern agriculture.

Over 30 presentations on various research areas will be presented in the in-person sections, covering current issues in water regime regulation, agricultural use of reclaimed lands, methods for extracting and using bottom sediments from water bodies, and the results of environmental rehabilitation of disturbed peatlands in Belarus.

Conference participants will be able to explore new publications on the topic at an exhibition provided by the I. S. Lupinovich Belarusian Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as an exhibition of the latest developments from the Institute of Land Reclamation, which showcases regulator wells, rippers, diagnostic equipment, UAV data processing technologies, and more.
