Conducting surveys of hydraulic structures is a basic determining nature for assessing: the technical condition and safety of hydraulic structures (HS) and their  complexes, forecasting their changes over time; the adequacy of measures taken (or being taken) by the owner of the structure to prevent emergency situations; compliance by the operating organization of the rules, instructions and other regulatory documents on the technical operation of the HS; the possibility of their  further trouble-free operation or the need for restoration and strengthening. Such measures are the basis for developing recommendations for improving the  safety of HS and an inalienable part in the design of their major repairs or reconstruction. The article presents the provisions of the methodology for surveys of HS  of hydro-engineering facilities in operation, which increase the efficiency and reliability of their operation.
